Tennis advertising for clubs & coaches

Advertising

Sometimes you need to put your tennis club in front of more people, rather than simply doing nothing and hoping they stumble across it. Tennis advertising can be useful when you're promoting something specific. Maybe you're trying to increase membership, fill a new coaching session, promote an open day or get more people through the door for a kids’ holiday camp. The right advertising campaign can give those messages a much wider reach.

At Wood & Ham, we create advertising campaigns for tennis clubs that are built around what you're actually trying to achieve. We make sure the campaign has a clear purpose and is targeted at the right people.

Tennis advertising: Reaching the right people

Putting an advert in front of thousands of people doesn't necessarily mean you've reached the right audience. What if some of those people want coaching, and others want to play for fun? What if some of them are keen to compete, and others have a general question that needs answering? Your tennis club might be trying to attract families, increase memberships or introduce more people to coaching. Each audience needs a slightly different message, and there's no point spending money showing a junior tennis advert to people who have no interest in it.

There’s also the question of what happens after someone sees the advert. If the message catches their attention, but the website doesn't explain the offer clearly, that initial interest can quickly disappear. They’ll take their attention elsewhere. Good tennis advertising needs to connect everything together.

Why tennis advertising matters

Tennis advertising gives your club the chance to be much more targeted with promotion. You can put a particular membership offer in front of people in the local area, promote junior coaching to parents or raise awareness of an upcoming event. It can also be useful when you have something new to shout about and you don't want to rely solely on your existing followers seeing it.

That doesn't mean every club needs to advertise constantly. That wouldn’t make sense. Sometimes a focused advertising campaign around a particular period or offer makes much more sense. The important thing is knowing what you're advertising, who you want to reach and what you want them to do afterwards.

Why work with Wood & Ham?

At Wood & Ham, our background is in sport, and that gives us a good understanding of how tennis clubs work and the different audiences they need to speak to. We can help shape the campaign itself, from the wording and creative side of things, right through to the audience and digital channels being used. We also think about how the advertising fits with your wider club marketing, so it doesn't feel like a random promotion dropped into the mix.

How we help

Frequently asked questions

What can tennis advertising be used for?

It works best when you're promoting something specific, such as a membership drive, a new coaching session, an open day or a kids' holiday camp. A clear focus makes it much easier to reach the right people with the right message.

Does my tennis club need to advertise all the time?

No. A short campaign around a particular offer, event or time of year is often more effective than advertising all year. What matters is knowing what you're promoting, who it's for and what you want them to do next.

How do you make sure adverts reach the right people?

We start with who the campaign is for, whether that's parents, new adult players, lapsed members or competitive players. We then shape the message and choose the channels to suit that audience, so your budget isn't wasted on people who aren't interested.

What happens after someone sees the advert?

The advert is only part of the journey. We look at where it sends people too, so the offer is explained clearly and they can sign up, book or get in touch without losing interest.
