The challenge

Tennis Australia, the national governing body for tennis, aimed to solidify its position as one of the most forward-thinking and innovative NGBs within the global tennis landscape. They envisioned going beyond the traditional ‘on-court’ professional development for Australian coaches by partnering with wood&ham to enhance coaches’ digital skills, giving them the tools they needed to thrive in the digital age. Recognising the importance of digital marketing for increasing tennis participation and reaching new audiences, Tennis Australia sought to equip their network of over 1,000 employed and self-employed coaches with essential digital skills. We were tasked with creating a series of engaging, educational videos that would help coaches better understand the nuances of the Tennis Australia brand, identify and grow their audience, and ultimately build their confidence in using digital marketing to promote themselves and their services.

Our work

In close collaboration with Tennis Australia’s coach education team, we conceptualised and developed a comprehensive five-part video module series designed to cover key digital marketing topics relevant to both self-employed and employed coaches. The series included 30-minute episodes on various topics, including the basics of social media, understanding your audience, growing your audience, engaging with your audience, and the fundamentals of branding.

The outcome

The video series was successfully launched and made accessible to over 1,000 tennis coaches across Australia, providing them with valuable insights and practical tools to strengthen their digital marketing efforts. Coaches gained a deeper understanding of how to leverage social media, connect with their target audiences, and effectively connect with and leverage the Tennis Australia brand. Feedback from the coaches highlighted increased confidence in using digital platforms and better engagement with their audiences, both on and off the court.
