For several years, Wood & Ham has had the privilege of supporting The Queen’s Club Foundation (QCF) a charity whose mission to improve lives through racket sports continues to make a profound difference across London. This year we were once again invited to design their Annual Impact Report, a flagship publication that showcases the Foundation’s achievements, reach and community programmes over the past 12 months.

The report captures a remarkable year for QCF, from expanded disability tennis pathways to innovative women & girls initiatives, to outreach programmes that supported children and adults across the local community  .

Creating a Report That Informs, Inspires and Connects

The Impact Report serves two equally important purposes:

  1. To raise awareness of the charity’s work, and

  2. To help readers feel personally connected to the lives being changed.

Because of this, our design approach focused on clarity, structure and emotional storytelling. Across the report’s 38 pages, the QCF details a broad range of initiatives — from dementia-friendly tennis sessions and inclusive padel, to workforce development, SEND schools festivals, refugee programmes, women’s leadership events, and the launch of the groundbreaking Inclusive Player Pathway.

Our role was to take this rich, wide-ranging content and shape it into something cohesive, easy to navigate and visually engaging. The design uses clear hierarchy, thoughtful pacing, and a balance of photography and data visualisation to ensure readers can absorb information quickly while still appreciating the human stories behind the numbers.

Designing for Accessibility and Ease of Use

With such a broad audience — donors, partners, volunteers, coaches, schools, families, and Queen’s Club members — accessibility was key. We ensured the layouts:

  • Provide clear entry points into each section

  • Allow statistics to stand out without overwhelming the page

  • Highlight personal stories and testimonials that bring the data to life

  • Use consistent visual devices to help readers move seamlessly through topics

A Publication That Reflects the Heart of the Charity

The finished report offers a blend of warmth, professionalism and clarity, mirroring the spirit of The Queen’s Club Foundation itself. It communicates both the scale of the charity’s impact and the individual lives touched through its work, from young players gaining confidence, to wheelchair tennis scholars progressing into competition, to volunteers discovering the joy of inclusive sport.

Creating this annual piece is always a highlight for our studio, and we’re continually inspired by QCF’s dedication to opening doors through racket sports.
