LTA LEXUS JUNIOR NATIONALS

Bringing the Junior Nationals to life

The Lexus Junior National Championships is one of the standout events in the British junior tennis calendar. Run by the LTA and hosted at Nottingham Tennis Centre, the championships bring together the country’s leading young players aged 14U for ten days of competition, providing an opportunity to compete on a national stage and experience the atmosphere of a major tennis event.

With so much happening on site, the LTA wanted to bring that experience to a much wider audience. Wood & Ham was appointed to lead the social media coverage of the championships, capturing the competition, personalities and behind-the-scenes moments that make the Junior Nationals such a special event.

WHAT WE DID

The Challenge

For the players and families attending the Junior Nationals, the event already provided an incredible experience. The challenge was to translate that same sense of occasion across social media.

The LTA wanted those following from home, including players, parents, coaches and the wider tennis community, to feel closer to the championships and experience more than simply scores and results.

With multiple age groups, matches and stories unfolding simultaneously across ten days, our challenge was to create a clear content strategy that could capture the scale of the event while retaining its personality. Most importantly, we wanted the young players to remain at the centre of the coverage and give them the recognition that competing at a national championship deserved.

Our Work

Working closely with the Tournament Director, referee and wider officiating team, Wood & Ham delivered a combination of on-site and remote coverage throughout the ten-day championships.

Rather than simply documenting results, we developed a series of content themes designed to tell the wider story of the event. High-quality photography formed the backbone of the coverage, capturing competition, emotion and atmosphere, alongside daily editorial features and behind-the-scenes content exploring the people who make the championships possible, from officials and referees to the on-site physio team.

Photography was supported by video content and bold graphic design aligned with the LTA’s competition identity, creating a varied and recognisable visual rhythm across the championships. Daily highlights, player stories, key moments and curated photography helped audiences follow the event as it unfolded and gave players across every age group an opportunity to feature.
We loved every minute of working with the Wood & Ham team. Thanks for helping raise awareness and elevate player experience!

The Outcome

The response across the ten days was fantastic, with the championships generating over 1 million content views, 15,000+ interactions and 15,000+ profile views across the campaign.

But some of the most rewarding feedback came from the players and their families themselves. Parents regularly shared how much it meant to see their children featured and celebrated through the coverage, helping make an already special experience feel even bigger for the young players taking part.

For Wood & Ham, that was ultimately the biggest measure of success: taking the atmosphere and excitement happening on the courts in Nottingham and allowing a much wider audience to experience it, while giving the next generation of British players their moment in the spotlight.

Next project.
