Back in the spring as we went into lockdown 1.0 we at WOOD&HAM created the #STAYATHOME campaign to be a voice for businesses that were forced to close their doors to help tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

We created custom artwork for a few and gave them a shout out on our Instagram to remind them that they hadn't been forgotten: the response was fantastic and extremely humbling.

Now, as we unfortunately enter lockdown 2.0, these same businesses and many others have had to close their shop fronts once again and at a most fruitful time of year for most ahead of the Christmas rush.

We wanted to revitalise the campaign once more with a specific focus on our county, and leant upon our  good friend @bestofsurrey to create #SupportSurreyLockdown.

Together we are giving small and independent businesses a virtual pat on the back, recognition, and championing the ways in which they have adapted in these challenging times.

Scroll below to see who has been featured so far and we would encourage you to explore their websites and #shopsmall !

Plough Produce

Plough is Surrey’s first online farmers’ market. It brings together the finest artisan and restaurant grade produce from local, independent producers and farmers and delivers it direct to your doorstep. Not only do they deliver to Surrey but have expanded to cover the whole of the UK.

They offer a unique collection of produce, which you can’t find together, anywhere else. The beauty of Plough is that you get to discover the vast variety and quality produce of a farmers’ market and support small, local businesses but from the comfort of your own home.

Plough’s collection of produce includes baked goods, dairy, meat, seasonal fruit & veggies, meal kits, alcoholic and soft beverages, and pantry essentials.

New Leaf, Reigate

@newleaf.Reigate is Surrey’s newest zero waste shop opening just over a month ago. Situated just a stone’s throw from Reigate town centre, it’s a local champion of all things plastic free.

We all know the impact of single use plastic and many of us are making an effort to reduce our consumption. Well, New Leaf Zero Waste takes it to the next level. In the beautifully laid out shop you can buy everything from hand sanitiser, reusable make-up wipes, and shampoo through to fresh fruit and veg, cheese, bread and coffee. It really is a one stop shop for gorgeous fresh produce and environmentally friendly products.

Please do support this brand new business if you can, opening just before the second lockdown. Support local, shop local, and you can do your bit to save the planet whilst you’re there!

@twomanycooks is a family run business by mother and daughter duo Joanna and Emily. Please do support them if you can by getting takeaway coffee and treats from their coffee shops and trying out their ready meal food menus!

Elliotts Coffee Shop

@elliottscoffeeshop is based in  Chiddingfold near Godalming.

Located on the edge of this picturesque Surrey village green is the welcoming Elliotts Coffee Shop; a haven of delicious treats, pastries, cakes, savouries and of course, coffee! Your four legged friend is also well looked after with dog biscuits!

How can you support them during lockdown? They are open for takeaways so you can still get your coffee fix (plus pick up a treat or two) when out walking.

John Goodridge

We don’t need to tell you that this pandemic has hit so many industries very hard. For clothing stores, people are unable to try on in store, returns have to be quarantined, and of course the reduced customers in store.  @john.goodridge is an independent, family run menswear store in Farnham.

Established in 1927, @john.goodridge is situated on Downing Street and has gained an enviable reputation in the local area for their professional yet friendly approach. They stock lots of internationally recognised brands and have a formal hire service for when weddings can commence once again.

Their online shopping service is now up and running so please do give them a browse and visit when they open again (plus who can resist saying hello to their store dog @hankbulldog1)!

This cute pottery painting studio usually welcomes customers to relax and get creative painting their own ceramics which are then glazed - from plates and mugs through to money boxes and photo frames.

Of course due to lockdown 2.0 they are closed but this hasn’t stopped @ceramicaclaygate. They’ve put together kits so you can paint at home then return to them for firing. It goes without saying that the Christmas baubles and decorations  for presents are popular at this time of year.

Check out their feed for inspiration!

Surrey Hills Butchers

For those of you that appreciate traditional values and more importantly extremely high quality meat then Surrey Hills Butchers in Oxshott (as well as Frensham and Windlesham) is perfect for you!

They source and sell extremely high quality local produce that always meet their very high standards. The shop is led by the incredible @simonthebutch who has been in the industry from the age of 13 and believes that traditional values need to be respected to bring the industry back from decline. Our favourite part of shopping at Surrey Hills Butchers (aside from the fantastic quality) is that you are greeted by polite staff who dress very smartly and treat what they do as art!
